Ayurvedic Remedies for SCURVY

SCURVYThis is caused by the deficiency of Vitamin C and is marked, by weakness, anaemia, spongy gums and mucocutaneous haemorrhages. Bleeding occurs primarily from the gums. It may also occur from the capillaries inside the skin. The presence of Vitamin C is very essential for coagulation of blood. In its absence, blood does not coagulate and the capillary walls become fragile. They rupture very easily and bleeding does not stop even after a prolonged period.

This usually occurs among people in the army and also among people who live on tinned or preserved foods. Excessive boiling of vegetables destroys Vitamin C and people accustomed to this type of food are prone to suffer from this ailment.
