The foundation of gem therapy in astrology lies in the principle of planetary resonance. Each planet emits a specific energy or vibration that influences the native's life, depending on its placement in the birth chart.
Gemstones act as energy amplifiers for beneficial planets or neutralizers for malefic ones. For instance:
If Venus is weak in the chart, a Diamond or Opal may enhance one’s love life, creativity, and luxuries.
If Rahu is troubling and Saturn is strong, a Blue Sapphire might stabilize and empower the native.
This energetic alignment is believed to work through light refraction, aura enhancement, and chakra activation.
The Appropriate Gemstones
The most difficult task is to choose the right gems. One can follow the parasari system and prescribe a gem for a good lord only, i.e., the first, second, fourth, fifth, seventh,
ninth, and tenth lord or for a planet in the 11th house of financial and business prosperity. But sometimes we have to choose a gem for a bad lord also like the third lord. If the
third lord is combust or in debility one lacks courage. The longevity could get affected. For certain Ascendants, for example, for Virgo, Saturn becomes the fifth and sixth lord.
For Gemini, Saturn becomes the eighth and ninth lord, for Pisces Ascendant, Venus is the Lord of 3rd and 8th houses.
Such planets when in debilitation signs or combust can cause
inauspicious results.
Sometimes two inimical planets become weak. For a native, the Sun in Libra and Saturn in Aries or both Mercury and the Moon combust become weak. In such cases prescription of an
appropriate gemstone becomes difficult. In such a situation, it is advisable to prescribe the Navaratna set so that all planets will become neutral and give one more gem for a good
lord like ascendant lord, the ninth lord or the fifth lord so that the benefic results will get accentuated. Whenever a gemstone for a bad lord is necessary then it is safe to give
the Navaratna as a balancing factor.
For best results, the native may be asked to read Ashtottara [108 times] for a planet who is in a bad place or bad lord. Say a native has Rahu Ashtottara can reduce his malefic effect with a gem of a native for the Ascendant lord or the ninth lord. In the case of Kalasarpa yogas (where all planets are within Rahu-Ketu axis)
, a Navaratna ring is better than a single gemstone ring.
In the case of a native who was getting leucodermic patches, he was having a Rahu major period and could not get cured for long. In such a case the following three gems proved
effective:
(1) Mercury who is debilitated and the ninth lord.
(2) Venus, Ascendant lord.
(3) Saturn, the yogakaraka.
In the case of another native, in whose birth chart, the Moon and Jupiter were combust, for both of which he was prescribed gems. This improved his financial status within a short
period.
Another native was without a job for long. He was recommended a gem for ninth lord Mars (but in 8th). He wore gems at the time of going for an interview. He was selected against
stiff competition from amongst several others.
Another native was having Rahu's transit and facing problems in his marital life, profession, health and finances. In this case, gems for Jupiter, the second and fifth lord, were
suggested. Within a year, his problems disappeared and his life became smooth and pleasant.
As the saying "prevention is better than cure" goes, natives should wear appropriate gems as early as possible so that they can prevent bad results or atleast the intensity of
adverse results could be minimized.
It is hoped that people will take advantage of gems therapy and use gems as a preventive measure. Sometimes it is necessary to prescribe more than 2 or 3 gems. Normally beneficial
results can be expected within a few months of the use of right type of gemstone.
