In Vedic astrology, the Navamsa Chart (also known as the D9 chart) is a divisional chart that holds immense significance in understanding the deeper aspects of a person’s destiny. While the main birth chart (Rashi chart) reveals overall life events, the Navamsa provides insight into the strength of planets, marriage compatibility, and spiritual inclinations. Without analyzing the Navamsa, a horoscope reading is considered incomplete.

Importance of the Navamsa Chart

Uses of the Navamsa Chart in Horoscope Interpretation

If at the time of conception, or at birth, the ascendant, Jupiter the Moon and the Sun are posited in an odd sign and in a Navamsa owned by an odd.sign, the birth of a male child should be announced. If the significators mentioned above occupy an even sign and be in a Navamsa owned by an even sign, the birth of a female child be predicted.
When the ascendant, or the Moon occupies a Vargottama amsa and be aspected by four or more planets, other that Moon, various cases of Rajayogas arise. Again, when the rising Navamsa is a Vargottama and benefics occupy the 2nd house from the Moon, and the kendra houses are not void, kings are born.
If the lord of 7th house be in Navamsa owned by Mercury and also be aspected by the same planet, the wife of the person concerned will behave like a courtesan.
The number of wives a person may have corresponds to number of Navamsas traversed by the lord of the 7th in the rasi in occupied by him. It mav also correspond to the number of planets .aspecting the 7th house. if the 7th house or its lord be in a Navamsa owned by Mercury and Saturn, or Mars and Saturn, the person concerned will have only one wife. If Mars, Saturn and Rahu occupy 6th, 8th and 7th respectively, the person concerned will have no wife, though he may marry more than once.
Note the strongest planet or of the planets of the navamsa occupied by 10th Bhava from the Lagna, from the Moon or from the Sun, the lord of whichever is strongest will guide the profession.
If the Navamsa of 10th house be that of Sun, the person will gain through power and authority. If of Moon the person gains a living by agriculture, by dealing in food material and things derived from water such as conchs, pearls, fish etc. If Navamsa be of Mars, through violent acts, if be of Mercury, one may earn through writings, by poetry, or through arts. If navamsa be of Jupiter, the professions can be religious acts, God's grace etc. Of Venus, the acquisition of money can be through jewels, women, beautiful things, vehicles etc.
If be of Saturn, the earnings will be through wicked acts or through underground articles such as Petrol, Coal, or through agriculture produces.
If tenth lord of the rising Navamsa at a birth occupy a Navamsa of his own or be aspected or conjoined with a benefic and possessed of strength and be also free the conjunction or aspect of malefics, the person concerned will surely be blessed with a partner of very good qualities and rare beauty, which he will secure without any efforts.
If the lord of rising navamsa be a benefic and occupy kendra house (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) the marriage will be very early even at 16th year. If the rising Navamsa or Navamsa of 7th Bhava be associated with malefic planet, one will not have marital happiness.
If lord of 5th house, Jupiter, Mars and the Sun all are posited in male Navamsa or Rasis, they lead to the acquisition of good number of children, so say the Sages.
In any rasi-whether odd or even, a Navamsa denoted by an odd sign indicates a son, while one denoted by an even sign signifies a girl. In determining the sex, prominence is given to Navamsa Rasi.
Mars if in Moon or Lagna Navamsa and if not aspected by Jupiter and Moon is in Gemini or Virgo, the child dies early.
Sun, Saturn and Mars if are in moveable rasies in Navamsa, Jupiter and Venus in fixed sign in Navamsa, other planets, Moon and Mercury are in Navamsa of dual signs, the man gets 100 year age.
The waxing Moon if posited in Navamsa of Sun, Moon or Jupiter, will indicate the performance of meritorious deeds and ward off completely all ills.
